29. Resident Engineer - Signal & Telecommunication



The Job Responsibilities for this position are described below:

  • Testing & commissioned SSI, R.R.I, MACLs signaling installation, design, PMC works & execution works.
  • Analyzed data from site surveys to make recommendations on design and construction of railway S&T projects.
  • Preparation of “Detail Project Report” for different Railway Projects related to S&T facility,
  • Testing and Commissioning of WESTRACE (Hot Standby), WESTRONICS S2, UFSBI,
  • Preparation of Signaling Interlocking Plan (SIP), Front plate diagram (FPD), SWR, SWRD & Track Bonding Plan (TBP), Control Aspect Chart, completion signaling plan in Auto cad.
  • Frequent interactions with clients and concerned railway division & head quarter officials for better site co-ordination for approval of plans, drawings and estimate.
  • S&T Site supervision & execution works like installation of Westrace Interlocking
  • System as per the engineering standards, establishing Westcad system communication (operating PC) with Westrace System through optical fiber cable & MoviolaW communication, establishing panel communication with Westrace system through Westronic system as per approved SIP issued by Railway.
  • Execution of S&T works at site for erection of signal posts, location boxes, LC gate, point machines & fixing of relay racks & wiring. Checking quality of materials received & testing of cables etc.
  • Supervising the installation of signaling equipment in accordance with relevant specifications, quality standards, train safety and construction methodology

The Professional Qualification required for the position are listed below:

  1. Essential: Diploma in Electronics/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  2. Preferred: Degree in Electronics /Electrical /Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution. 

Degree/Diploma in Project Management/Construction Management from a recognized institution or Fellow of Institution of Engineers/ Institution of Railway Signal & Telecommunication Engineers

The Length of Experience required for the job is as follows according to our client - RVNL:

  • Total Professional Experience: At least 10 years for Graduate Engineers or 15 years for Diploma Engineers
  • Relevant Experience: At least 3 years’ experience in Gazetted Cadre of S&T department in Railways and/or as Manager and above in Signal & Telecommunication Engineering department in RVNL/RITES/IRCON or equivalent grade in Konkan Railway/MRVC/DFCCIL/ any Metro Rail Corporation either individually or combined. The person should also meet the hurdle criteria of having experience of at least three years in execution/ commissioning/ maintenance of Railway signalling works in any grade.


Minimum professional experience of 5 years as In-charge or one level below the In-charge of signalling works of Railways with Signalling Contractors for RRI/SSI/PI and/or as Expert (S&T) or equivalent or higher with Project Management Consultants for RRI/SSI/PI either individually or combined. The person must have successfully passed initial training course for apprentice JE(Signal)/ SE(Signal)/ Probationer (IRSSE) or equivalent course at IRISET/ Secunderabad or Conversion/Integration course for Group ‘B’ Railway Officers at IRISET/Secunderabad or should be a IRSE License holder.
